§ 20. Viscount SANDONasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether land titles for natives in Tanganyika will be statutorily established, in guarantee of the attitude of the present Governor?
§ Mr. AMERYThe principle that the natives have a right of occupancy in respect of the land occupied by them is recognised in Tanganyika as established by the Land Ordinance of 1923. The enactment of a supplementary ordinance designed further to establish and define this right has recently been recommended by the Governor, and is now under consideration.
