HC Deb 14 March 1927 vol 203 cc1643-4
74. Mr. LANSBURY

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is now in a position to state when it is proposed to start the erection of a school to replace the High Street Council School, Bromley-by-Bow, this school having been condemned as totally unsuitable as a school?

Lord E. PERCY

The replacement of this school by new premises on the Back Alley site will be undertaken as soon as satisfactory arrangements have been made for rehousing the tenants who at present occupy part of the site. I understand that a scheme has been approved for rehousing the tenants from certain areas, including Back Alley, and I hope that the building of the new school will be begun as soon as the site has been cleared.

Colonel APPLIN

Can the Noble Lord say what the cost will be?

Lord E. PERCY

Not without notice.
