§ 40. Mr. SHORTasked the Minister of Health what is the number of local authorities who have availed themselves of the provisions of the Blind Persons Act, 1920, and provided schemes for the welfare of the blind; and the number of persons involved?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThere are 145 local authorities in England and Wales under the Blind Persons Act, 1920, and all of them have made, and put into operation, schemes for promoting the welfare of the blind. These schemes cover all the registered blind persons in the country.
