HC Deb 01 June 1927 vol 207 c376
38. Mr. RAMSDEN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, if he will state the value of any foreign products or manufactures purchased for or on behalf of his Department during the last financial year; and what percentage this bears to the total purchases?

Captain HACKING (for The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS)

The value of foreign products and manufactures purchased by the Department during the last financial year is about £7,600, representing approximately 1 per cent. of the total purchases. It is not possible to state the value of foreign products purchased by contractors, but whenever possible British manufactured articles are specified in all Office of Works contracts.
