HC Deb 01 June 1927 vol 207 c392
75. Mr. TREVELYAN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the suggestion made by a committee of European planters in Nyasaland, and submitted to the Government, that employers should be allowed to retain the whole or the greater part of the wages of contract labourers without the necessity of agreement before the resident; and whether he will instruct the governor that he will be supported in resisting such a proposal?

Mr. AMERY

I have not heard of any such proposal.
