asked the Prime Minister if the Government has come to any decision with reference to the appointment of a Royal Commission to investigate the present licensing laws of Great Britain?

I have been asked to reply. The Government are not at present in a position to make any statement on this subject.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when the Government will be in a position to make a statement on this very important matter?

They will make a statement as soon as they are in a position to do so, but at present they are not in a position to make a statement.
