§ Mr. CLYNESMay I ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any statement can be made to-day on the-subject of the discussions at Geneva on naval policy; and, if not, could I repeat the question to-morrow as to whether a statement can then be made, in view of the desire to refer to the matter in Debate before the House rises?
§ The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Churchill)It will propably be necessary for the Govern- 1033 ment to make a statement on this subject before the House rises, and I agree with the right hon. Gentleman that it would probably be more convenient if it could be made to-morrow than on Thursday. On the other hand, I cannot say whether it will be possible to make it to-morrow, or whether it must be postponed until Thursday; but on one or the other of those two days it is the intention of the Government to offer a statement to the House.
