HC Deb 26 July 1927 vol 209 cc1032-3
Mr. CLYNES

May I ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any statement can be made to-day on the-subject of the discussions at Geneva on naval policy; and, if not, could I repeat the question to-morrow as to whether a statement can then be made, in view of the desire to refer to the matter in Debate before the House rises?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Churchill)

It will propably be necessary for the Govern- ment to make a statement on this subject before the House rises, and I agree with the right hon. Gentleman that it would probably be more convenient if it could be made to-morrow than on Thursday. On the other hand, I cannot say whether it will be possible to make it to-morrow, or whether it must be postponed until Thursday; but on one or the other of those two days it is the intention of the Government to offer a statement to the House.
