§ 65. Mr. W. THORNEasked the Minister of Pensions the reasons why Mr. W. Pritchard, residing at 136, New Barn Street, Canning Town, E.16, is only allowed a pension of 8d. a day for life under Article 1163, of the Royal Warrant, 1914; if he is aware that his Army records show that in 1910 he completed 16 years' service in the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade, Regimental No. 3415, and during the Great War served in the Royal Engineers, Railway Troops, Regimental No. 13896; that when Mr. Pritchard was discharged from the Army in 1916 he 848 received a pension of 4s. 8d. per week, Identity No. 11/M/269697; and that the man is married with a large family; and whether, on account of the man's deafness, which is a distinct impediment, he will increase his pension?
The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of PENSIONS (Lieut.-Colonel Stanley)I fear that I can add nothing to the reply I gave to the hon. Member on the same question on the 4th instant.
§ Mr. THORNEIs there any supplementary fund from which a grant could be made in a case of this character, where hardship has been suffered?
Lieut.-Colonel STANLEYI very much doubt whether this man would come under the terms of any voluntary fund. I do not think he would.
