asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount of the balances of the Road Fund on 31st March, 1927, and the amount on the similar date 1926?

Colonel ASHLEY

I have been asked to reply. The cash and investment balances of the Road Fund on the 31st March, 1926, as shown by the balance sheet amounted to £18,710,148. The corresponding figure at 31st March, 1927, was approximately £12¼ millions.

Will the Minister see that the sums of money promised and guaranteed is paid before January, in order to allow the local authorities to carry on their work?
