HC Deb 11 July 1927 vol 208 c1735
40. Colonel DAY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he can state the number of photographs that were taken of the eclipse by the officials of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich; the viewpoint from which these photographs were taken; what was the cost; and when the examination of the photographs and other data of the eclipse will be completed?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

I have been asked to reply. Three photographs were taken from a site near Giggleswick School. The total cost was £150. The examination of the photographs will be completed in time for a full report to be sent to the Royal Astronomical Society in the autumn.

Colonel DAY

Will the full report also be published, so that all who are interested in this subject can have an opportunity of seeing it?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

No doubt there will be an ample opportunity of the public seeing the report.

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

Will my hon. and gallant Friend arrange for the Astronomer Royal to come here and give a short account of the eclipse in a room upstairs?
