HC Deb 28 February 1927 vol 203 cc27-8
46. Mr. WARDLAW-MILNE

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider introducing legislation to preclude the appointment of naturalised aliens in future to the Privy Council?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

No, Sir; I see no reason for the introduction of such legislation.

Brigadier-General Sir HENRY CROFT

Was it not an ancient Statute of this country that the Privy Council should be maintained on the basis proposed, and will the Prime Minister consider the matter, in view of the great interest taken in the subject?

The PRIME MINISTER

That is a point which can be much better dealt with in Debate, but I think the hon. and gallant Member will find that the system was altered in various Naturalisation Acts of the last half-century.
