BAKERasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Governor-in-Council is vested with powers to prohibit the entrance and distribution of publicatons in Nyasaland which are published and freely circulated in South Africa; and whether these 542 powers are subject to the control or veto of His Majesty's Government?
§ Mr. AMERYUnder the Seditious Publications (Prohibition) Ordinance, 1918, the Governor-in-Council is empowered to prohibit by order published in the Gazette the importation into the Protectorate of any newspaper, book or document. The Ordinance does not make these powers subject to the control or veto of His Majesty's Government.
