HC Deb 10 February 1927 vol 202 c270
62. Mr. GEORGE HALL

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the officials of the Employment Exchanges in South Wales have been putting pressure on girls registered as unemployed to accept situations in military canteens on Salisbury Plain, and where the girls or their parents objected, they were refused unemployment benefit for the reason that they refused employment when offered; and, seeing the objection that a number of girls and their parents have to the kind of work referred to, will he instruct the Employment Exchange officials to cease such action?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND
