HC Deb 10 February 1927 vol 202 cc258-9
5. Mr. DENNISON

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the average weekly cost per head of a convicted prisoner, a prisoner in a settle- ment, and policemen in. barracks for the last two complete years ending 31st March?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir William Joynson-Hicks)

As regards prisoners, the cost for 1924–5 is shown and analysed at pages 79 and 78 of the last Report of the Prison Commissioners, Command Paper 2597, and the Report for 1925–6 will soon be published. As police officers residing in section houses provide their own maintenance, no comparable figures can be given.
