HC Deb 20 December 1927 vol 212 cc203-4
25. Mr. BARR

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that there is dissatisfaction among the staff at Wishaw and Motherwell offices on account of the appointment as acting head postman, over the heads of six senior officers, of an officer who was lower on the acting list; that the officer appointed has been in the service for only 10 years as against service extending from 17 to 37 years in the cases of the six officers referred to; that some of the officers passed over have had acting experience; that the surveyor and postmaster have informed two of these officers that their work and character are quite satisfactory; and that the postman appointed claimed knowledge of his appointment a considerable time before an official announcement was made; and whether, in the circumstances, he will have the appointment reconsidered?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I am making inquiries and I will write to the hon. Member.
