HC Deb 20 December 1927 vol 212 c202
22. Sir BASIL PETO

(for Sir COOPER RAWSON) asked the Minister of Transport whether he has received a plan and full particulars of the Pass-Ons Junction system of traffic by which it is claimed that congestion will be so relieved as to render a new Charing Cross bridge unnecessary; what steps he is taking to submit the proposal to a thorough investigation; and whether he will facilitate and attend a demonstration at the House of Commons for the information of Members?

Colonel ASHLEY

I have received particulars of the Pass-Ons Junction system referred to, and these particulars have been examined in my Department. On the information before me I consider that the proposals, though ingenious, are impracticable and costly, and that they do not contribute to a solution of the problem of cross-river traffic in London. In these circumstances the answer to the last part of the question is in the negative.
