HC Deb 19 December 1927 vol 212 cc1-2
4. Mr. GRIFFITHS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether it is the intention of the Government, in connection with the Indian statutory inquiry, to announce more detailed terms of reference than those contained in the Government of India Act; and if the relationship of the Indian States to the paramount Power and questions connected with the working of the Indian Chamber of Princes will fall within the Commission's terms of reference?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Earl Winterton)

The answer to both parts of the question is in the negative. The terms of reference as contained in the Royal Warrant reproduce exactly the language of the Act, which it is not intended to supplement.
