HC Deb 26 April 1927 vol 205 c657
28. Mr. H. WILLIAMS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the reason for the increase in the cost of other Consolidated Fund services from the actual cost of £2,869,000 odd last year to the estimated cost of £3,700,000 odd in the present year?

Mr. CHURCHILL

There is an increased charge this year of £350,000 in payments under the Tithe Act, 1925, which was only in operation for six months last year, and an increase of about £700,000 in the estimated interest payments to the National Debt Commissioners in respect of borrowings last year on behalf of the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
