Can my right hon. Friend inform the House when we shall have the Second Reading of the Trade Union Bill, and can he, on behalf of the Prime Minister, say anything regarding the Prime Minister's assurance that he would endeavour to make a statement before the House rose on Thursday with regard to proposals to extend the franchise?

In regard to the first Supplementary Question, we shall commence the Second Reading of the Trade Union Bill on Monday, 2nd May. With regard to the second part of the right hon. Gentleman's question, I am not in a position to say when the Prime Minister will make a statement, but the right hon. Gentleman can rest assured that the statement will be made.

Has my right hon. Friend observed the statement of the Solicitor-General that if a woman was capable of being a mother and 198 bringing up her children, she should have the franchise?
