HC Deb 07 April 1927 vol 204 cc2238-9
11. Mr. BECKETT

asked the Home Secretary if he has now considered the Report of the London County Council Control Committee on their experience of the Theatrical Employers Registration Act; and whether he will consider amending the Act in the light of their experience?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I am consulting some other representative local authorities as to their experience of the working of the Act, and am ascertaining their views.

Mr. BECKETT

Could the right hon. Gentleman give any idea as to when it would be suitable to put this question down again?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

Shortly after Easter.

Colonel DAY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the same licensing laws under this Act do not operate in the provinces as in the case of London, where the London County Council make these regulations for theatrical employers?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I want to make a little fuller investigation into this subject. If I am to alter legislation, I want to make further inquiries before I make up my mind.
