HC Deb 07 April 1927 vol 204 c2259
53. Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total amount of money received from 11th November, 1918, up to 31st March, 1927, for the sale of war stores; what amount out of this total has been credited under miscellaneous receipts: what amount, if any, has been otherwise dealt with: and whether any further receipts are anticipated from this source?

Mr. McNEFLL

The net receipts during this period were £319 millions from surplus stores and £148 millions from raw materials. Of these sums £34 millions was due to the Dominions and £127 millions was appropriated under Parliamentary authority towards meeting the expenses, including war commitments, of the Ministry of Munitions and its liquidating bodies. The balance amounting to £306 millions was paid into the Exchequer as Miscellaneous Revenue; and there remains a sum of approximately £15 millions to be received over a period of years.

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

Do I understand that that is exclusive of receipts from shipping liquidation?

Mr. McNEILL

I think so.
