HC Deb 07 April 1927 vol 204 c2265
76. Mr. MacKENZIE LIVINGSTONE

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will take steps to meet the desire of the people of the island of Lewis that the mail boat from Stornoway should leave in good time to connect with the early train from Kyle of Lochalsh for the south?

The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Sir John Gilmour)

I have-been asked to reply. This matter has been very fully considered by the Postmaster-General and myself, and it has been decided that the advantages to be gained by arranging for a connection with the early train are not commensurate with the difficulties and the cost which such an arrangement would involve.
