HC Deb 07 April 1927 vol 204 c2270
81. Lieut.-Colonel THOM

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that, owing to the failure of the authorities concerned to undertake and carry out the construction of the necessary bridge to span the canal at Drumchapel, in Dumbartonshire, the new Anniesland-Duntocher boulevard, though otherwise completed over a year ago, is not available for traffic to and from Glasgow; and if he proposes to take any steps to expedite the completion of this road?

Colonel ASHLEY

I share my hon. and gallant Friend's regret that the negotiations relative to this bridge should have taken such a protracted course. While I am taking what steps are open to me to expedite progress, it rests with the local authority and the company to reach terms of agreement and I hope that they will do so without further delay.
