HC Deb 04 April 1927 vol 204 cc1661-2
6. Mr. DUNNICO

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he can state if and how far the recommendations of the Inchcape Committee on Retrenchment have been put into effect?

Earl WINTERTON

I would refer the hon. Member to the Reports of the Legislative Assembly debates of 1st February, 1924, and 28th January, 1925, which are in the Library. Further detailed information showing the action taken on the recommendations of the Committee are being compiled in India and will be available in due course. In introducing the current year's budget the Finance Member stated that, with the improvement in the financial position, the Government of India had in the last two years been seeking gradually to restore some of the reductions made on beneficial services.
