HC Deb 17 November 1926 vol 199 cc1828-9
8. Captain FOXCROFT

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of serious charges made by Chinese against the action by His Majesty's Ships "Cockchafer" and "Widgeon," and the armed British steamer "Kiawo," on 5th September, at the port of Wanhsien, he will publish a Report on the subject?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply given by me on 10th November to the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Platting.

Captain FOXCROFT

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware these malicious libels are being repeated in this country, and can he take any steps to prevent their repetition here?

Mr. SPEAKER

I do not think that would come under the jurisdiction of the Foreign Minister.
