HC Deb 17 November 1926 vol 199 cc1842-3
33. Colonel DAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, if he will state the names and nationality of the artists and their assistants commissioned to make designs for the ten panels representing the various British Colonies in connection with the new decoration of the Upper House?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Captain Hacking)

This is entirely a matter for the House of Lords Offices Committee, and my right hon. Friend regrets that he has no information on the subject.

Colonel DAY

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that an American named Dean Cornwall has been appointed as first assistant to the artist; and does he not think we have enough British artists to do the work?

Captain HACKING

There is no charge upon public funds in connection with the work, and this House has no authority in the matter.
