§ 70. Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTEasked the Minister of Transport if he will state his reasons for refusing a grant to the Tiverton Borough Council under Circular 234, in view of the fact that the number of people in the borough is below one per acre, and that over 16,000 acres of the 17,679 acres administered by the council are essentially rural in character?
§ Colonel ASHLEYI do not think that it is possible to regard Tiverton as essentially rural in character in view of its importance as the principal shopping and commercial centre for a wide area.
