§ 69. Mr. WALTER BAKERasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that, despite the considerable increase of traffic which is being carried over the Clifton extension line, operated by the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company, maintenance work has been reduced by the decision that the permanent-way men should work no more than three days a week; whether he is aware that the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company have stated that they are prepared to take the responsibility for anything which may happen; and whether, seeing that it is the opinion of the local representatives of the railwaymen that the line is not being satisfactorily maintained, he will cause immediate inquiries to be made?
