HC Deb 09 November 1926 vol 199 cc875-6
70. Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the number of immigrants allowed into the United States from the United Kingdom and Germany, respectively; and what will be the numbers when the new law comes into operation?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

The number of quota immigrants permitted to enter the United States from the United Kingdom and Germany respectively in any one year is at present 34,007 and 51,227. The calculations necessary to determine the quotas for the period after the 1st July, 1927, in accordance with the provisions contained in the United States Immigration Act of 1924, have not, so far as I am aware, yet been made.
