HC Deb 04 May 1926 vol 195 cc185-6
6. Mr. COMPTON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that a firm in Czechoslovakia is exporting to this country large quantities of tungsten steel consigned under the category of steel, but which are really ferro alloys of tungsten, containing from 14 to 22 per cent. of tungsten, are liable to duty; and whether any intimation has been received from the Poldi Hutte Company that their high-speed steel contains tungsten?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I have no information as to the particular importations mentioned, but tungsten steel is not subject to duty on importation.
