HC Deb 04 May 1926 vol 195 c197
42 Mr. SMITHERS

asked the Postmaster-General, in view of the discrepancy between£84,000 actually received and£500,000 receivable under ordinary rates for Press telegrams in 1925–6, whether he will consider the advisability of revising the rates for Press telegrams to a basis which will not involve a loss on this traffic?

Viscount WOLMER

An increase in the charges for Press telegrams would require legislation, but the matter will not be lost sight of.

Mr. HARMSWORTH

May I ask whether the matter will be immediately considered?
