HC Deb 04 May 1926 vol 195 c204
55. Sir WILFRID SUGDEN

asked the Minister of Pensions if he will consider a scheme which would save the widow of a Naval Service man the loss of pension in respect of his children, which she now suffers, on re-marriage to a soldier?

The MINISTER of PENSIONS (Major Tryon)

If a widow re-marries while in receipt of a pension for herself and allowances for her children, the effect on the pension and allowances is precisely the same whether the re-marriage be to a serving soldier or to a civilian.

Sir W. SUGDEN

If I bring to the right hon. Gentleman's notice a case where this hardship does obtain—a case in which the widow of a soldier is penalised because her second husband is a naval man—will he go into the matter?

Major TRYON

I shall be very happy to examine that case.
