HC Deb 03 May 1926 vol 195 cc5-6
11. Mr. JAMES STUART

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has received a petition from the white settlers in the Bechuanaland Protectorate; and, if so, whether he can give any indication of the action he contemplates taking in order to give effect to the expressed desires of the petitioners.

Mr. AMERY

I have received from the High Commissioner for South Africa by the last mail a petition addressed to His Majesty the King by European inhabitants of the Tuli, Gaberones and Lobatsi blocks in the Bechuanaland Protectorate. On receipt of the High Commissioner's observations on the petition, which are expected very shortly, the petition will be carefully considered with a view to deciding what advice should be tendered to His Majesty in the matter.
