HC Deb 23 March 1926 vol 193 c1033
72. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the new telephone boxes are by no means as soundproof as those which they are replacing; anti whether, in view of the inconvenience thereby caused, he will investigate the matter with a view to finding a remedy?

Viscount WOLMER

Telephone cabinets with folding doors, which have recently been introduced where there is insufficient space for the ordinary type, are somewhat less sound-proof, and the question whether they can be improved is being considered. They are not intended to displace the ordinary type of cabinet, which will continue to be used where space permits.
