HC Deb 16 March 1926 vol 193 c252
77. Mr. ROBINSON

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will issue instructions to the Special Grants Committee that educational grants shall be made in all cases where the child of a man who gave his life for the country, has won, or been awarded, a scholarship at a secondary or higher grade school, or at a university?

Lieut.-Colonel STANLEY

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave him on the 7th April last, to which I have nothing to add. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of that answer.

Mr. ROBINSON

May we take it that it is the policy of the Ministry of Pensions that the child of a soldier killed in the War who has won a scholarship is to be deprived of the advantages of that scholarship owing to its poverty?

Lieut.-Colonel STANLEY

No, Sir. The hon. Member must not imagine anything of the sort.
