HC Deb 16 March 1926 vol 193 c221
13. Mr. ROBINSON

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, seeing that Royal Fleet Reservists are allowed to settle in the Dominions without taking their discharge from the Reserve, and so forfeiting the prospect of gratuity or pension, he will issue Regulations permitting men in; the Army Reserve to migrate and to draw Reserve pay so long as they are on the Reserve?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

In the case of the Army Reserve no question of forfeiture of gratuity or pension arises, as Army Reservists are not eligible for a gratuity and are not serving on pensionable engagements. An Army Reservist who wishes to reside in a Dominion is allowed to do so, and is not discharged from the Reserve, but the issue of reserve pay ceases so long as he remains abroad. I am not prepared to make any alteration in this rule.
