HC Deb 15 March 1926 vol 193 cc43-4
89. Sir F. WISE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount credited to the revenue account of Britain by Ulster for 1925–26 after the deduction of the Supplementary Estimates?

Mr. McNEILL

As the answer contains a number of figures, I propose, with my hon. Friend's permission, to circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following is the answer:

The estimated receipts and payments for 1925–6 are as follows:

and will he cause a revision of such salaries to be made, with a view to such officers receiving more adequate remuneration?

Mr. McNEILL

The remuneration which is paid to collectors has only recently been revised and I cannot now reopen the matter. Remuneration depends on the work and responsibility involved, which is not necessarily measured by the amount of tax to he collected.

Colonel DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say what the collectors have to pay for expenses?

Mr. McNEILL

I must have notice of that question.
