also asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that the Hoyland Swaine School was taken over from the Church of England three years ago; that a promise was then given to undertake repairs and improvements without delay; that these repairs are only just being undertaken; and whether he can explain the cause of this delay?

I am aware of the facts as represented in the first two parts of the question. As regards the last part, the delay appears to have been due mainly to the difficulty which the authority experienced in getting tenders for the work in this isolated country district.
