asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will give an estimate for the last available year of the value of the rebate granted upon Canadian goods reaching this country under preferential duties; and what were the chief commodities thus brought under Preference?

The approximate amount of rebate granted upon goods consigned from Canada and delivered for home consumption at the preferential rate of duty, in the year ended 31st December last, was as follows:

Spirits 1,500
Sugar 1,200
Tobacco 140,000
Motor cars 65,300
Other articles 1,400
Total £209,400.
