HC Deb 18 February 1926 vol 191 cc2092-3
15. Sir HARRY BRITTAIN

asked the Minister of Pensions what was the number of the staff of his Department employed at the issue office at Acton on the 1st January in the years 1924, 1925, and 1926, respectively?

Major TRYON

The staff of the various branches of my Department housed at Acton numbered 3,856 on the 1st January, 1924; 4,120 on the 1st January, 1925; and 3,358 on the 1st January, 1926.

Mr. HARRIS

As it becomes possible to reduce this staff, do those whose services are no longer required have a chance of serving in other Departments as vacancies arise?

Major TRYON

I am not sure that I apprehend the question, but—

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Member had better put it on the Paper.
