HC Deb 04 February 1926 vol 191 cc304-5
73. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Minister of Health whether it is proposed to reduce the subsidy in respect of houses built under the Acts of 1923 and 1924 in October next?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Section 5 of the Housing Act, 1924, requires that, after the 1st October next, the Minister of Health and the Scottish Board of Health shall take into consideration the expenses likely to be incurred during the next two years in connection with the provision of assisted houses and to have regard to the expenses actually incurred in connection with such houses during the previous two years, and thereafter an Order may be made modifying Exchequer contributions in respect of houses built under the Acts of 1923 and 1924. It is impossible at this date to anticipate the result of the review to be undertaken under the Statute eight months hence.
