HC Deb 02 December 1926 vol 200 cc1363-4
27. Commander FANSHAWE (for Captain PETER MACDONALD)

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the inability of many urban district councils to carry on effective building during the industrial troubles of 1926, he will recognise for the payment of the full subsidy all contracts definitely entered into before 1st May of this year?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have carefully considered my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion, but after examining the evidence I have come to the can-elusion that there is no sufficient reason for varying the decision already arrived at that the subsidy at present rates shall be payable in respect of houses completed by the 1st October, 1927.
