17. Mr. TREVELYAN THOMSON
asked the Minister of Health how many local authorities have put in hand schemes for slum clearances under the Housing Act of 1919 and subsequent Acts?
§ The MINISTER of HEALTH (Mr. Neville Chamberlain)
Since 1919, 73 local authorities have submitted schemes for dealing with slum areas and I have information of 33 other local authorities who have schemes in preparation or under consideration. 85 schemes relating to 67 local authorities have been confirmed.
In view of the slow progress in dealing with slum property, can the right hon. Gentleman state how soon he will be able to take any action to expedite the clearance of slums?
