Mr. CHAMBERLAINUp to the 1st instant, 238,219 houses had been completed in England and Wales under the 1919 and subsequent Housing Acts by local authorities and 153,289 by private enterprise. The numbers under construction on the 1st instant were 45,920 by local authorities and 35,088 by private enterprise.
