HC Deb 30 November 1925 vol 188 c1812
40. Mr. SHORT

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can state the conditions governing the installation of public telephone boxes by his Department?

Major HENNESSY

It is the policy of the Post Office to establish public telephone cal offices where prospective receipts equal or exceed the cost of providing and maintaining the service. Call offices are also provided when the estimated receipts do not cover the expenses, if a guarantee is forthcoming to meet the deficit.
