HC Deb 25 November 1925 vol 188 cc1364-5
79. Mr. SHORT

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can state the general conditions governing employment at the Ministry of Labour Factory, Garrison Lane, Birmingham, with special refer- ence to the age limit adopted, the rates of pay, the hours of labour, the period of tuition, the trades and industries taught, the total number catered for, and the number of skilled instructors employed?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply, of which I am sending him a copy, which I gave on Wednesday last in answer to a similar question by the hon. Member for Bow and Bromley. I am also sending the hon. Member a leaflet setting forth the conditions at these training centres. The number of men in training at the Garrison Lane Centre on 18th November was 395 and the number of skilled instructors employed was 30.

Mr. SHORT

Is it the intention of the right hon. Gentleman to exhibit articles for sale; and, if so, how does he propose to dispose of them?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

That does not arise out of the original question. Perhaps the hon. Member will put the question on the Paper.
