HC Deb 25 November 1925 vol 188 cc1369-70
87. Mr. JAMES HUDSON

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he has procured information regarding the extent and nature of the casualties inflicted on tribesmen of the North-West Indian frontier in the recent air operations described in the despatch of General Sir Claude Jacob, dated 30th October, 1925?

Sir S. HOARE

I have no information on this subject additional to that contained in the despatch from Sir Claude Jacob to which the hon. Members refers. I may add that reference was made in the despatch to the difficulty of obtaining information, but it was added: It is not likely that the actual casualties were many, nor is it desirable that they should be.

Mr. THURTLE

Has the right hon. Gentleman received any representations from the Chairman of Lloyd's as to the desirability of abolishing aeroplanes as barbaric weapons of warfare?

Sir S. HOARE

No, Sir.
