HC Deb 18 November 1925 vol 188 cc348-9
11. Mr. DALTON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received from the British Ambassador in Rome any Report on the outbreak of violence in Florence on the 3rd October, in the course of which several British citizens were assaulted without provocation by armed Fascist bands, and one at least was so seriously injured that he had to be admitted to hospital; and, if so, whether he will communicate the salient points of the Report to this House?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The report that British subjects had been assaulted would appear to be unfounded. His Majesty's Consul at Florence made inquiries at the hospital and was informed that no British sub- jects had been detained. Nor have any complaints of such assaults been received from British subjects.
