HC Deb 18 November 1925 vol 188 c349
3. Colonel DAY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware that the Anglo-Persian Oil Company have purchased a well in a transferred territory, near Khanakin, the estimated store of which is 6,000 barrels daily; and whether any transport facilities are contemplated with a view to this well being utilised?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Sir Burton Chadwick)

I have been asked to reply. The Anglo-Persian Oil Company hold a concession for the oil rights in the transferred territory, but I am not aware that any such well as is referred to in the question has yet been brought in. Drilling is in progress for the purpose of ascertaining whether oil is present in sufficient quantities to justify the cost of laying a pipe line.
