§ 33. Mr. HARRISONasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, with reference to the £350,000 which appeared in the Navy Estimates for the provision of marriage allowance to naval officers, if Treasury approval will be given to the virement of this sum to other purposes; if so, what purposes; or whether it will be shown as a surplus at the end of the financial year?
§ Mr. McNEILLI hope that there will be no deficiency or necessity for unforeseen expenditure involving the exercise of the powers conferred by Section 4 of the Appropriation Act, but until occasion arises and the facts are before me, I cannot say what the Treasury would decide.
